Mosaics appeal to different people in a variety of ways. Some notice the different colored tiles dancing together to become one image, others focus on how a two dimensional surface can burst out as a three dimensional representation. Some people observe the different reflection of each tile when the light hits it, while others simply enjoy the design.
Our work is a melding of rough materials to create a beautiful finished product. We play with colors and shades, coupling that with the shapes and cuts of each fragment to create radiant textures. The meticulous duty of placing each tile one-by-one can be challenging at times since one misplaced tile can change the entire mood of the mosaic. Yet, creating mosaics allows us to embrace a sense of freedom that would be impossible to express with words. The sense of longevity is also satisfying, as our mosaics will outlast our lives as well as many generations to follow.
Our inspiration comes from the natural beauty of the world and its inhabitants. All around us there is a splendor of artistic magnificence; we like to represent this by incorporating natural elements like glass and stone. Because of the infinite shapes and sizes of each tile, the art of mosaics has truly unlimited possibilities. |
